Join one of the UK’s busiest container and general cargo ports. As an Engineering Technician / Electrical Engineer, you will report to the Engineering Supervisor and provide hands-on engineering support across operational port equipment during shift operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair Quay Cranes (QCs), Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGs), and port equipment
- Ensure maximum equipment safety, availability, and reliability
- Complete maintenance and repairs to high engineering standards
- Support safe and effective deployment of technicians and contractors
- Provide technical supervision and on-site engineering support
Electrical Engineer Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in electrical, mechanical, or vehicle engineering
- Experience diagnosing faults in RTGs, TUGs, or crane systems
- Working knowledge of PLCs and variable speed drives
- Competency in electrical control fault finding
- Operational plant licences (MEWPs desirable)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Comfortable working at height
Shift Pattern
- 12-hour shifts 4 on / 4 off → 5 on / 5 off rotation
- Operating hours between 06:00 – 22:00
- Potential earlier finishes on weekends
