Salary: £56,277 (Including Shift Allowance)

Join one of the UK’s busiest container and general cargo ports. As an Engineering Technician / Electrical Engineer, you will report to the Engineering Supervisor and provide hands-on engineering support across operational port equipment during shift operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair Quay Cranes (QCs), Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGs), and port equipment
  • Ensure maximum equipment safety, availability, and reliability
  • Complete maintenance and repairs to high engineering standards
  • Support safe and effective deployment of technicians and contractors
  • Provide technical supervision and on-site engineering support
Electrical Engineer Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in electrical, mechanical, or vehicle engineering
  • Experience diagnosing faults in RTGs, TUGs, or crane systems
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and variable speed drives
  • Competency in electrical control fault finding
  • Operational plant licences (MEWPs desirable)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Comfortable working at height
Shift Pattern
  • 12-hour shifts 4 on / 4 off → 5 on / 5 off rotation
  • Operating hours between 06:00 – 22:00
  • Potential earlier finishes on weekends
