About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Shipping Coordinator / Import Coordinator to join a long-established international freight forwarding and logistics business specialising in import logistics, freight forwarding, warehousing, cargo coordination, and global supply chain support. Operating across air freight, sea freight, and road freight, the business supports an international customer base through a global network of overseas agents and logistics partners. This role will focus on the end-to-end coordination of ocean and air freight import shipments, with a strong emphasis on Purchase Order (PO) tracking, shipment visibility, and international supplier coordination. This is a key operational position within a busy freight forwarding environment, ideal for someone who enjoys managing multiple shipments and working within fast-paced logistics operations. Please note: this role is focused purely on import shipment coordination and supply chain visibility, with no customs clearance responsibilities involved.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and track Purchase Orders (POs) from origin through to final delivery
- Coordinate international air freight and ocean freight import shipments
- Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines, freight partners, and suppliers
- Build strong working relationships with carriers, hauliers, warehouses, and logistics providers
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve delays or operational issues
- Coordinate final mile deliveries and provide regular shipment updates to customers and internal teams
- Track and manage freight costs, carrier charges, and logistics-related costs
- Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure internal databases and logistics systems are kept fully up to date
- Ensure all shipment data, PO information, and operational records are accurately maintained within internal systems
- Support the day-to-day running of the company’s freight forwarding and shipping operation
Key Requirements
- Previous experience within a shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain role
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Confident communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Good understanding of air freight and/or ocean freight import operations
- Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge (Essential)
- Experience using Freight Management Systems (FMS) or logistics systems advantageous
