The Loddon School is a school and a registered children’s home for 30 children aged 8‑19 who have the most severe and complex learning difficulties, autism, and associated conditions such as epilepsy, self‑injurious behaviour, aggression and restrictive behaviours. The children live at the school 52 weeks a year. We are seeking a Therapies Assistant to support the occupational therapist, speech and language therapist and the wider therapy team in maintaining an environment that upholds the highest standards of education, care and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Assist highly specialist therapists with day‑to‑day therapy sessions for children with complex needs.
- Support the general therapy events such as Chumble Markets, world food events and breakfast provision.
- Work hands‑on with children, facilitating activities and preparing resources.
- Maintain a holistic support framework for the organization, ensuring a consistent learning environment.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to promote independence and integrate OT and SaLT principles.
- Use solid IT skills to record progress and communicate with the team.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children or young adults with complex needs, including autism and learning disabilities.
- Exceptional listening ability and strong team‑working skills.
- Basic IT competency.
- NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification desirable but not compulsory.
Hours & Salary
- Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Flexible hours may be required to support activities for students.
- Salary range £25,447 – £26,793, depending on experience and qualifications.
