As an established Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO), it is essential that our fundraising and partnerships reflect who we are. Your input will help ensure that income generation is not only effective, but also authentic, ethical and grounded in the voices of those we support. What are we looking for? We are looking for a trustee who brings relevant professional experience alongside the personal qualities needed to contribute effectively to a collaborative and values‑led board.

Experience And Knowledge

You will have experience in fundraising, partnerships, income generation, or a related field. This may come from the charity sector, corporate environment or another relevant setting. We are particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate experience in one or more of the following:

  • Fundraising strategy, income generation or development
  • Corporate partnerships, sponsorship or business development
  • Community or events fundraising
  • Marketing, communications or brand development
  • Developing new income streams, innovation or social enterprise

You should be comfortable contributing at a strategic level, with an understanding of how organisations build sustainable income and external relationships.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking a trustee with experience in fundraising, partnerships or income development to strengthen our board and support the long‑term sustainability of The Living Room. As demand for our services grows, this role will help ensure we are well positioned to diversify income, build strong external relationships and increase our reach across Hertfordshire. As a trustee, you will work collaboratively with fellow board members and the executive team to provide strategic oversight of fundraising and income development. You will contribute your expertise to help shape how the organisation grows its income and builds partnerships, while ensuring this aligns with our mission and values as a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO).

Key responsibilities

  • Providing strategic input on fundraising, income generation and sustainability
  • Supporting the development of partnerships, networks and external relationships
  • Contributing to discussions around marketing, communications and visibility
  • Helping identify opportunities for new income streams or collaborations
  • Ensuring fundraising activity aligns with organisational values and ethical practice
  • Offering constructive challenge and support to the executive team

We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

Charity sector experience is welcome but not essential. Previous trustee experience is not required, and a full induction and support will be provided. The time commitment is approximately 4–6 hours per month. The board meets 4–6 times per year, with additional light preparation and occasional input between meetings. We warmly welcome applications from people with lived experience of recovery, or those who have supported someone through addiction. Your perspective is highly valued and central to our identity as a LERO.
