Overview
Relais & Chateau at Thornbury Castle are seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join our talented brigade of chefs. You will be working in a unique and beautifully restored Castle and four Red Star boutique hotel.
About Us
Set on 15 acres of beautiful land, Thornbury Castle Hotel is the only Tudor Castle operating as a hotel in England. The Castle has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment program bringing back to life the regal grandeur of its past. Located 20 minutes’ drive from Bristol, it offers 26 rooms and suites, an award-winning restaurant, bar and two unique meeting and conference spaces. Our food style is modern British using the best locally sourced produce from our kitchen garden and around the southwest. We operate 7 days a week, serving breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner, and Sunday lunch as well as the occasional wedding and functions.
Our company goal is to deliver “refined and personalised hospitality” to enable our hotel to be a place where all guests can relax, enjoy themselves and have a break from normal life. To feel like royalty in a unique place with unique people
Responsibilities
- Full time permanent position, 48 hours a week
- Salary from ÂŁ38,000 per annum, depending on experience
- An additional share of the service charge and tips paid every month (about 3.5k annually)
- You will be responsible for preparation and service, supporting the Head and Sous Chefs
- Ensuring high level of food quality and preparation
- Natural ability as a chef with outstanding attention for detail
- Assisting with the development of menus
- Ability to work unsupervised and using own initiative
- Support and assist with managing team members
- Strictly follow all food safety and health & safety procedures
Qualifications
- A truly talented chef with a professional approach, great passion and flair for the industry and food
- Experience at 3AA Rosette or in Michelin star environment is ideal
- A calm, mature approach with a resilient nature that thrives under pressure
- Dedicated team player with strong communication skills
- Ambition to succeed
