Packing Assistant
Bar Hill, Cambridgeshire - Onsite (free parking)
Full-Time, Permanent Contract
Salary from £25,000 per annum depending on experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Packing Assistant to join a well-established and growing business in Bar Hill. Working as part of a small and friendly operations team, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the packing function. This is not a traditional warehouse role. The position involves handling small, lightweight products within a clean and organised packing and fulfilment environment, rather than a large warehouse setting.

As a result, candidates do not need previous warehouse experience. The role could suit someone from a retail, customer service, administration, or other detail-focused background. The most important qualities are accuracy, attention to detail, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities
Working as part of a team of 4, you will be responsible for:

  • Accurately picking, packing, and dispatching customer orders.
  • Checking, unpacking, and storing incoming deliveries.
  • Preparing shipment paperwork and courier documentation.
  • Supporting stock management activities, including regular stock checks.
  • Reporting discrepancies and maintaining accurate records.
  • Monitoring and recording storage conditions, including fridge and freezer temperatures.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient working environment.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the business to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Following company procedures to ensure a high standard of quality and attention to detail.

About You
We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in getting things right.
  • Is organised, reliable, and methodical in their approach to work.
  • Has a positive attitude and is willing to learn new skills.
  • Works well as part of a team.
  • Is comfortable following processes and procedures.
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues.
  • Is keen to contribute to a small, collaborative working environment.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, picking and packing, retail, customer service, administration, or a similar role would be beneficial, but is not essential.
  • Full training will be provided.

Benefits include:

  • 22 days’ holiday, plus a Christmas shutdown (extra 3 days). You’ll also receive 1 additional loyalty day per year (up to 10), with the option to sell back up to 5 days annually.
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Bonus of up to 20% of your salary
  • Private Healthcare scheme
  • Free onsite parking
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (1 hour paid lunch), with flexibility to opt for a 5:00pm finish with a shorter 30-minute lunch break
  • Regular team events throughout the year, including Christmas and summer parties, office activities, and social gatherings such as sweepstakes and team lunches
