The predicted salary is between 24000 - 28000 Β£ per year.

To support the Room Leader in the day-to-day running of the nursery room, ensuring children receive high-quality care, learning, and development opportunities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The Assistant Room Leader will help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment whilst acting as a positive role model for staff and children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Room Support
    • Support the Room Leader in the day-to-day management of the room.
    • Lead the room in the absence of the Room Leader.
    • Assist with staff deployment and ensuring room routines run effectively.
    • Support the monitoring and maintenance of room standards, including hygiene and resources.
  • Childcare and Learning
    • Deliver high-quality care and education in line with the EYFS and Birth to Five Matters.
    • Support planning and provide engaging learning opportunities for children.
    • Complete observations, assessments, and learning records to a high standard.
    • Support children's individual learning, development, and wellbeing.
    • Promote positive behaviour and inclusive practice.
  • Safeguarding and Welfare
    • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.
    • Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately.
    • Ensure children's safety through effective supervision and ratio management.
    • Support health and safety procedures, risk assessments, and welfare requirements.
    • Complete accident, incident, medication, and care records accurately.
  • Parent Partnerships
    • Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
    • Share information regarding children's learning, development, and wellbeing.
    • Support children and families during transitions and settling-in periods.
  • Professional Responsibilities
    • Ensure compliance with nursery policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
    • Attend training, meetings, and supervision sessions.
    • Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times.
    • Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by management.

Person Specification

  • Level 3 Early Years Childcare qualification.
  • Good understanding of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements.
  • 1 year experience working with children aged 0-5 years.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work using own initiative.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
