As Sous Chef you are a vital part of our brigade and will support the Head Chef. Spending your days serving delicious food in a well-equipped kitchen, developing your skills under the guidance of our talented Head Chef. A charming village inn since 1726, The Lister Arms is the beating heart of Malham. With 23 comfortable bedrooms along with a charming bar and inviting restaurant, the Lister provides a home-from-home feeling for those exploring this beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales. Owned by Daniel Thwaites, the Lister Arms is perfect for someone looking for a supportive work environment, who is ready to deliver charming hospitality in one of the Yorkshire Dales most established village inns.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Head Chef with effective kitchen management
  • Producing a high standard of food from scratch for all of our menus
  • Managing a section in the kitchen cooking from fresh ingredients
  • Eliminating wasteful or unprofitable practices
  • Ensuring food safety standards are adhered to
  • Controlling the order and storage of food supplies
  • Supporting the delivery of financial targets

Qualifications

You should have experience working with fresh ingredients and cooking from scratch. A flair for cooking is essential. Having innovative ideas and the ability to implement them is important, and proven previous experience is essential.
