This PMO role within a growing SME business within Defence, IT and Cyber fields will combine operational coordination with assured delivery alignment and people development – so that work is fully aligned and completed, and the business as a whole continues to grow in capacity, capability, and effectiveness.
Key Functions & Deliverables
- Coordination, Synchronisation, Capacity Building
- Maintains a single view of all active client engagements.
- Aligns timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Identifies clashes and sequencing risks early.
- Acts as the coordination hub between project leads.
- Allocates consultants across concurrent projects.
- Balances utilisation and avoids over/under-allocation.
- Adjusts assignments dynamically as priorities shift.
- Delivery Synchronisation
- Manages handoffs and ensures continuity.
- Governance & Standards
- Provides simple, consistent ways of working.
- Supplies practical templates and tools.
- Applies proportionate structure (informed by Project Management Institute practices where useful).
- Delivers clear oversight across all engagements.
- Tracks progress, risks, and utilisation.
- Enables timely decision-making by leadership.
- Identifies and manages cross-project risks.
- Tracks dependencies and resolves conflicts.
- Focuses on fast, pragmatic issue resolution.
- Client Delivery Assurance
- Supports consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Provides guidance to project leads where needed.
- Intervenes early on at-risk engagements.
- Monitors budgets, cash outflow rates, and margins.
- Tracks utilisation and revenue performance.

- Supports consultants in structuring and executing client work.

- Training & Development
- Provides targeted, and informal, training on core consulting and project delivery skills.
- Delivers practical sessions (e.g. planning, stakeholder management, risk handling).
- Identifies development needs across the team.
- Supports continuous professional development aligned to business needs.
- Line/Team Management
- Provides line management for junior consultants.
- Sets objectives, monitors performance, and supports progression.
- Conducts regular feedback and performance reviews.
- Supports wellbeing, engagement, and retention.
- Helps shape career pathways within the consultancy.
- Software and Workflow Tools
- Effective familiarity with all regular office software products and specific project management toolsets (e.g. Jira, Microsoft Project).
- Ensures consistent and coherent usage and visibility across the business.
You must either currently hold UK security clearance to SC level, or be a UK passport holder and have been resident in the UK for the last 5 continuous years to be able to gain (or regain) UK SC clearance.
