Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly and supportive GP practice.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient‑centred care under the direction of Practice Nurses and GPs.
- Undertake NHS Health Checks and new patient health checks.
- Record clinical observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, BMI).
- Perform ECGs, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, wound care, simple dressings, and removal of sutures and clips where competent.
- Assist with chronic disease monitoring, diabetic foot checks, vaccinations (where appropriately trained).
- Chaperone patients during examinations.
- Prepare and maintain clinical rooms, clean and calibrate equipment, process pathology samples.
- Manage clinical stock and ensure compliance with infection prevention and control procedures.
- Accurately maintain electronic patient records, support recall programmes and clinical audits.
- Maintain confidentiality, comply with practice policies, health and safety requirements, and work collaboratively within scope of competence.
Qualifications
- Previous experience within a GP surgery or primary care setting is desirable.
- Relevant healthcare experience and willingness to develop new skills encouraged.
