We are looking for a caring, professional and reliable Registered Nurse to join our nursing home team.

The successful applicant must hold a valid UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) PIN. You will be responsible for delivering safe, person-centred nursing care and supporting residents with a range of general nursing and complex healthcare needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess residents’ nursing needs and develop, review and update person-centred care plans.
  • Deliver safe, effective and compassionate nursing care.
  • Administer, manage and record medication in accordance with professional standards and the home’s policies.
  • Monitor residents’ health and promptly respond to any deterioration or change in condition.
  • Complete clinical observations, assessments and risk assessments.
  • Provide wound care and support with pressure-area management.
  • Support residents with catheter care, continence care, nutrition, hydration and other clinical needs.
  • Maintain accurate, clear and contemporaneous clinical records.
  • Lead the care team during the shift and provide guidance and support to care staff.
  • Delegate duties appropriately and ensure that care is delivered safely.
  • Participate in handovers and ensure that important clinical information is communicated effectively.
  • Liaise with GPs, pharmacies, hospitals, community healthcare professionals and other external agencies.
  • Communicate sensitively and professionally with residents and their families.
  • Recognise, report and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
  • Complete accident, incident and medication-error documentation when required.
  • Follow infection-prevention and control procedures.
  • Support residents with end-of-life and palliative care where required.
  • Participate in clinical audits, staff supervision, training and competency assessments.
  • Work in accordance with the NMC Code, CQC regulations and the home’s policies and procedures.
  • Promote residents’ dignity, independence, choices, privacy and wellbeing at all times.

Requirements

  • A valid UK NMC PIN as a Registered Nurse.
  • The right to work in the UK or eligibility for Skilled Worker sponsorship.
  • Good clinical knowledge and sound professional judgement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence using electronic care-planning and medication-recording systems.
  • The ability to lead a team and manage a shift effectively.
  • A caring, respectful and person-centred approach.
  • Willingness to work day and/or night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • A satisfactory enhanced DBS check and suitable employment references.
  • Previous experience within a nursing home is desirable; however, appropriate induction, training and support will be provided.
