I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading construction business seeking a skilled Estimator to join their Pre-Construction team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on diverse projects within the building envelope sector, delivering clear, timely, and accurate cost plans while developing professional client-facing presentations.

The estimator will collaborate with the bid manager, internal project teams, supply chain partners, and external consultants to ensure smooth coordination and delivery of competitive tenders. The role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to make a real impact in a growing business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage key client documentation relevant to estimates.
  • Work closely with bid managers and project teams to gather necessary data for cost plans.
  • Review project documents, measure take-offs, and tender for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prepare detailed project costings (materials, labour, equipment) using established templates.
  • Deliver clear and detailed price presentations to clients.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks while protecting profit margins.
  • Manage post-tender queries related to cost elements.
  • Stay engaged in CPD, supplier/site visits, and self-development.
  • Contribute to internal benchmarking and business development initiatives.

Who We’re Looking For:Essential:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar estimating role.
  • Proven experience in the building envelope sector (e.g., façades, cladding, curtain walling, roofing).
  • Demonstrable experience working on projects valued at £5 million and above.
  • Solid background in the construction industry.
Desirable:
  • Degree qualified and/or chartered (or working towards it).
Skills & Attributes:
  • Excellent communicator with both internal teams and the supply chain.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organised.
  • Strong IT skills, including estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Excel, SchuCal+, Logical).
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering drawings.
  • Curious, solutions-focused, and eager to learn.
