The Levels School is an independent specialist day school offering high-quality education and exemplary pastoral care to students with dyslexia and co-occurring difficulties. Our teaching and learning provision would also meet the needs of individuals presenting with a similar learning profile to those with dyslexia and other Speech and Language Communication difficulties. An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist with a passion to support our students. You will be committed to making a positive difference in young people’s lives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working under the direction of the Head of Therapy, alongside other Occupational and Speech and Language Therapists, the SENCo and classroom teachers in delivering social skills sessions, direct and indirect therapy.
  • Delivering the weekly therapy sessions for children on your caseload, running social skills groups, attending annual reviews, carrying out assessments and writing reports.
  • Managing your caseload of students in order to deliver the therapy as stipulated in their EHCPs and consultation documents.
  • Carrying out assessments of students attending the school and implementing intervention programmes using knowledge from both theoretical and practical experience.
  • Building relationships with all young people to encourage their interest and participation in their therapy sessions and lessons.

Ideal Candidate

It is important that you are ambitious for our pupils and have the desire to problem solve and work as a cog in a small team to unpick the nature of students' SpLD so that strategies can be put in place to allow each pupil to achieve their maximum potential.

Key skills and requirements

  • To be a registered Occupational Therapist with the RCOT and HCPC.
  • Experience and knowledge of dyslexia and co-occurring difficulties and autistic spectrum condition.
  • Ability to work as an integral member of a team that puts the pupils' learning and well-being at the centre.
