The European Financial Controller is a hands-on, operationally critical role reporting to the Corporate Financial Controller. The position has full ownership of financial control across LoftyWorks Ltd, The Letting Partnership, and Moatable Poland. The role is accountable for the integrity of financial reporting, delivery of a timely and accurate month-end close, compliance with UK and Polish statutory requirements, and continuity of finance operations. This includes maintaining control across a dual-system environment and managing cross-border financial processes. This is an individual contributor role requiring strong ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to operate across transactional, reporting, and compliance activities in a time-sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Fulfil all UK and Polish statutory, tax, and payroll obligations, ensuring timely compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and HMRC payments
- Coordinate year-end audit processes and act as primary contact for external auditors
- Support preparation of statutory accounts and regulatory filings
- Maintain transfer pricing documentation and compliance
- Liaise with in-country professionals in Poland to support local compliance and regulatory requirements
- Payroll & Payments
- Lead UK and Polish payroll processes and submissions
- Coordinate with local Polish advisers to oversee payroll accuracy and compliance for Moatable Poland
- Safeguard continuity and control over payment processes, including banking access and approvals
- Manage cash flow requirements and ensure timely execution of payments
- Cross-Entity & Intercompany Management
- Govern intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and settlements
- Administer intercompany loan schedules and related entries
- Apply consistent accounting treatment across entities
- Align finance processes across LoftyWorks, TLP, and Moatable Poland
- Operational Finance
- Maintain accurate cash positions and oversee bank reconciliations
- Process invoices, expenses, and payments in a timely and controlled manner
- Preserve data integrity across Sage Intacct, Xero, and supporting systems
- Risk, Controls & Process Improvement
- Sustain a strong financial control environment across all entities
- Identify and mitigate compliance and operational risks
- Establish and maintain documented processes and controls
- Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Business Support
- Support the Corporate Financial Controller with reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc projects
- Provide financial insight to support operational and strategic decision-making
Requirements
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), with full qualification preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial controller or senior finance role
- Experience managing multi-entity accounting and intercompany structures
- Proven ownership of month-end close and financial reporting
- Experience with UK VAT, HMRC compliance, and payroll
- Familiarity with transfer pricing and cross-border compliance
- Advanced Excel skills with strong reconciliation capability
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Sage Intacct and Xero enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
- Awareness of Polish accounting, tax, and payroll frameworks; experience with KSeF and Saldeo is an advantage
- Background in SaaS or technology-driven businesses
- Familiarity with group reporting and consolidation processes
