Brentwood School is one of the UK’s leading independent co‑educational day and boarding schools. Its extensive sports facilities include a 25m swimming pool with separate learner pool, two fitness suites, two aerobics studios, a 7‑court badminton hall, four squash courts, a functional training gym, two AstroTurf pitches and a 6‑lane athletics track.
Role Overview
The Operations Manager will ensure that the Sports Centre and associated areas operate to statutory standards of operational safety, staffing, cleanliness and effective maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with statutory operating standards, safety and maintenance.
- Lead, motivate and develop staff, including training and performance management.
- Produce risk assessments and safe working practice documentation.
- Manage budgeting and financial resources for the Centre.
- Coordinate scheduling and staffing across a rotating shift pattern.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and confidentiality.
Working Hours & Shift Pattern
40 hours per week, including a half‑hour lunch break, rotating shifts as follows:
- Monday–Friday: 5:30 am – 10:30 pm
- Saturday: 9:30 am – 8:30 pm
- Sunday: 8:30 am – 6:30 pm
Shift timings and lunch break scheduling may be adjusted according to business needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of three years’ industry experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, and experience producing risk assessments.
- Experience in staff training, budgeting and financial management.
- NPLQ Trainer Assessor qualification desirable.
Technical & Personal Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with Gladstone MRM2 and Google Workspace an advantage.
- Customer‑focused approach and flexibility to work unsociable hours.
- Willingness to wear a uniform.
- Commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
