About Brentwood School Sports Centre

Brentwood School is one of the UK’s leading independent co‑educational day and boarding schools. Its extensive sports facilities include a 25m swimming pool with separate learner pool, two fitness suites, two aerobics studios, a 7‑court badminton hall, four squash courts, a functional training gym, two AstroTurf pitches and a 6‑lane athletics track.

Role Overview

The Operations Manager will ensure that the Sports Centre and associated areas operate to statutory standards of operational safety, staffing, cleanliness and effective maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with statutory operating standards, safety and maintenance.
  • Lead, motivate and develop staff, including training and performance management.
  • Produce risk assessments and safe working practice documentation.
  • Manage budgeting and financial resources for the Centre.
  • Coordinate scheduling and staffing across a rotating shift pattern.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and confidentiality.

Working Hours & Shift Pattern

40 hours per week, including a half‑hour lunch break, rotating shifts as follows:

  • Monday–Friday: 5:30 am – 10:30 pm
  • Saturday: 9:30 am – 8:30 pm
  • Sunday: 8:30 am – 6:30 pm

Shift timings and lunch break scheduling may be adjusted according to business needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of three years’ industry experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, and experience producing risk assessments.
  • Experience in staff training, budgeting and financial management.
  • NPLQ Trainer Assessor qualification desirable.

Technical & Personal Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Gladstone MRM2 and Google Workspace an advantage.
  • Customer‑focused approach and flexibility to work unsociable hours.
  • Willingness to wear a uniform.
  • Commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
