Overview

Leigh Academy Wilmington now has an opportunity to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join their dedicated team to provide full support to the staff and students. The successful candidate will ensure the good behaviour of our students and make sure students engage in their learning during short-term absence of teachers. Cover work will be supplied wherever possible for you to use as a basis for the lessons and we will also determine your subject specialisms with you as a preference. Excellent inter-personal skills are required for this post as our successful candidates need to demonstrate that they can build good rapport with staff and students alike. This post is ideal for graduates with an interest in developing a career in teaching as the experience you can gain from this is first-hand, and also those who may have had experience within the education sector beforehand.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full support to staff and students, ensuring good behaviour and pupil engagement during short-term absence of teachers.
  • Use cover work supplied as a basis for lessons where available; assist with executing planned learning.
  • Discuss and determine subject specialisms with the candidate as a preference where possible.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and build rapport with staff and students.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with staff and students.
  • Previous experience within an education environment is desirable but not required; full training will be provided for successful candidates.
  • This is a term-time-only position, requiring three working days per week. Specific days are negotiable at interview.
  • Working hours are 8:15 am to 3:15 pm, with an earlier finish at 2:00 pm on Wednesdays.
