Leigh Academy Halley, part of the Leigh Academies Trust, is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Director of Learning – Social Sciences. The role will start in September 2026 and will be permanent, offering a competitive salary on the leadership scale based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Social Sciences department, working closely with staff to ensure students receive a challenging and rewarding curriculum.
- Support the development of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme in Years 7‑9, including Religious Studies, Sociology GCSE in Years 10‑11, and strong outcomes in Psychology and Criminology at Key Stage 5.
- Collaborate with the wider school team and the Leigh Academies Trust network to deliver high‑quality teaching and inspiring extracurricular opportunities.
- Participate in regular CPD programmes and trust‑wide training sessions.
- Work as part of a team while also being able to work independently when required.
Qualifications
- Passion for Social Sciences teaching and learning.
- Strong organisational and flexible approach.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently.
- Experience in curriculum development and leadership within a school setting is desirable.
