Join to apply for the Cost Engineering Manager – Warehousing role at the LEGO Group.
You will work closely with the Procurement team for Global Distribution to build up extensive cost knowledge and opportunity within the category. Your responsibilities include developing Should Cost models for warehouses, identifying design‑to‑cost opportunities for automated warehouse systems and supporting negotiations with suppliers to agree cost structures while maintaining strong relationships.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead change and build capability by delivering data‑driven cost engineering to procurement teams.
- Create cost models for warehousing operations, including labour, energy, material handling equipment, storage systems and automation.
- Relate warehouse activities to cost structures, understanding individual cost drivers in Should Cost calculations.
- Model scenarios across global regions to reflect country variations.
- Guiding 3PL suppliers of automated racking to optimal design‑to‑cost solutions.
- Compare costs of automated storage systems and material handling solutions to inform business cases.
- Conduct motion and time studies regionally for cost optimization and comparison across LDCs.
- Evaluate 3PL proposals, understand rate cards, and workshop cost ideas using Should Cost data.
- Support procurement discussions and negotiations with cost transparency and value‑lever arguments.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, bringing cross‑functions together to realise further cost savings.
Qualifications
- BEng or equivalent in Engineering, supply chain management, or related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, transportation, or supply chain analytics with a proven track record of managing and reducing costs.
- Minimum 5 years in a costing environment, including finance and supply chain in Should Cost creation.
- Deep understanding of warehouse automation and system design (AS/RS, pallet shuttles, automated truck loading, AMR, etc.).
- Experience with benchmark data and ground‑up calculations to optimise logistics costs (freight, shipping, floorspace).
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Cost Estimating principles.
- Process improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar).
- Willingness to work and live in London, UK and travel to suppliers globally.
- Proficient in English and experienced with parametric cost tools (Excel, Access, SQL, Power BI, etc.).
- CSCP certification preferred.
