The Role: Compliance & HR Consultant

This role is critical to ensuring that the business meets rigorous UK education compliance and safeguarding standards. Working remotely from South Africa and aligning with UK hours, you will oversee candidate vetting and documentation for placements in UK schools. Around 90% of your time will be focused on compliance and onboarding, with the remaining 10% supporting internal HR administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in UK education recruitment compliance or safeguarding
  • Manage full compliance and vetting process for education candidates
  • Conduct Enhanced DBS checks and verify right to work, ID, qualifications, references, and overseas police checks
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital candidate files in line with UK statutory and safeguarding requirements
  • Liaise directly with candidates to collect outstanding documentation
  • Perform regular audits to ensure ongoing compliance readiness
  • Keep compliance trackers, platforms, and systems up to date
  • Support internal HR tasks including onboarding documentation, contracts, and basic HR record-keeping
  • Assist with the implementation and review of internal HR policies and processes

About You

  • 2+ years of experience in compliance or safeguarding within UK education recruitment
  • Deep knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation and Enhanced DBS processes
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently in a remote environment
  • Comfortable using CRMs, compliance systems, and digital HR tools
  • Ideally has HR experience or a relevant HR qualification
  • Previous experience in a hybrid compliance/HR role is a plus
