Job Summary

To lead the planning, delivery, and assurance of complex projects across their lifecycle, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time, within agreed tolerances, and aligned with organisational priorities. This includes managing project governance, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder relationships, while providing clear reporting and escalation to support effective decision-making. The role also supports continuous improvement in project delivery through the application of appropriate project management standards, controls, and lessons learned.

Role Purpose

To manage the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects, translating strategic objectives into clear scopes, plans, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, and successful handover to business-as-usual. This includes establishing effective project governance, chairing Project Control Boards, managing project gates and approvals, maintaining key project documentation, and proactively managing risks, issues, dependencies, and change. The role engages and influences internal and external stakeholders, coordinates procurement and supplier activity, monitors budgets and forecasts, and provides accurate reporting and timely escalation of significant risks or issues. It also provides project management guidance to colleagues, captures lessons learned and good practice, and contributes insight and recommendations to support organisational decision-making, prioritisation, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience

Essential

Demonstrable experience managing projects through the full lifecycle in a complex organisational environment.

Expertise in managing risks, dependencies, and governance within agreed tolerances.

Expertise in producing project plans, RAID logs, and highlight reports to a professional standard.

Expertise in working collaboratively and experience of resolving conflicts with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders and external suppliers.

Expertise in working across multiple concurrent projects.

Experience of adapting communication and working approaches, ensuring an inclusive and accessible project environment

Desirable

Experience of supporting procurement activity and working with third‑party suppliers.

Experience of monitoring budget expenditure.

Awareness and understanding of organisational strategic objectives and how projects support the strategic objectives.

Experience of contributing to the continuous improvement of the project framework and associated documentation.
