Location: Placement locations include: Old Dalby Melton, Loughborough, Woodhouse, Quorn, East Leake, and Syston.
Contract Type: Flexible contract - recruiting for a variety of positions in the above locations. Work is predominately Tues/Weds/Thurs or Friday, 9.00-15.00 dependent on placement/student. Term time only 3 days for 3 weeks then 2 days thereafter starting from 3rd November. Required to attend induction on 13th October to meet student allocated. Driving license and access to a car desirable.

Salary: Starting at Β£12.71 per hour can earn up to Β£14 after a successful first term.
Overall purpose of role: To provide 1-to-1 support to SEN students within their workplace as part of a supported internship through Loughborough College group. These learners will have a specific learning difficulty or disability which may include Autism and ADHD. The students may also need mobility, orientation, sighted assistance and access support on and around the workplace. If this is the case, it is your job to provide this support. However, under no circumstances is it your job to provide personal care for your student; your role is purely workplace support. There are also further work opportunities for specialist notetaking support with The Learning Support Centre. This work will be discussed at interview.
Main Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide one to one coaching to students, enabling them to develop independent strategies to overcome barriers in the workplace.
- A flexible approach to working hours is required. Travel may also be required.
- Complete a record/log of activities and student progress.
- Providing information, helping with time keeping and supporting with organisational skills.
- Supporting in practical workshops.
- Taking notes for students with a range of disabilities.
- Always have a supply of pens, pencils and paper etc.
- Always be punctual.
- Produce notes that are clear, complete and legibly written.
- Manage paperwork effectively, i.e. filling in timesheets accurately and promptly.
- Maintain a high standard of presentation whilst representing The Learning Support Centre.
- If you cannot make an appointment/lecture let The Learning Support Centre and the student know as soon possible.
- Ensure that clients are happy with the support being provided; any problems must be referred to your relevant line manager immediately.
- Confidentiality should be respected to agreed disclosure levels.
- Attend any relevant training or meetings.
- Inform The Learning Support Centre of any problems you are having that are either work related or affect your work; we can then help you come to a satisfactory conclusion or adapt your work to support your situation.
- You will be expected to represent The Learning Support Centre in a professional and service orientated manner. This includes adhering to our stringent policies including those on confidentiality and safeguarding young people.
- Actively managing personal development in agreement with the Manager.
- To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required by The Learning Support Centre.
Professional Development: The Learning Support Centre are committed to the regular monitoring and review of individual performance and to maintaining open and participative communications within the team. Professional development and access to appropriate training is part of this and there will be regular review sessions with the Manager or his/her representative. This role description may be subject to review in light of the developing organisation and in consultation with the post holder.

- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom β The offer of employment will be subject to you providing a copy of a document confirming your eligibility to work in this country. The original document must be seen on receipt of the copy for our records (i.e. your passport). This is to comply with Section 8 of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.
- Leave - You are entitled to statutory holiday based on the number of hours that you work; your holiday should be taken outside university and college term time, and will be paid in January, May and September.
- Payment details - You will be paid on the last weekday of each month. Your tax and national insurance contributions will be deducted before you are paid; this will be detailed on your pay slip. Basic starting rate is Β£12.71 per hour.
- Medical examination β This appointment may be subject to a satisfactory medical report, which may include a medical examination.
- References β The appointment may be subject to the receipt of references, which are satisfactory to The Learning Support Centre.
- Pension β All eligible employees will be automatically enrolled into the company contributory pension scheme. Employees will have the option of opting out once they have been enrolled.
- Probation β This appointment will be subject to a probationary period of 3 months.
- Hours β The Learning Support Centre will seek to provide you with as many hours as are available.
- Payment for training β You will not be paid for attending training.
- Disclosure Barring Scheme (DBS) β Employees are required to complete a DBS check and register with the DBS update service; employment is subject to DBS clearance. You will be expected to pay approximately Β£60 for a DBS check to be issued and an annual fee to remain on the update service; the hiring lead can advise you on the exact costs on request. Your name and DBS number will be supplied to institutions we work with. The DBS check is transferable and registering with the update service allows the DBS status to be checked and not expire.
Skills Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
- Experience in studying or working in a Higher or Further Education setting - Essential.
- Experience in supporting disabled people or people with specific learning differences in education and/or in the workplace - Desirable.
