HOW WILL YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

We are looking for a Junior Cloud Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure for our applications and services. This role is ideal for someone early in their cloud career who is eager to develop hands-on experience in cloud platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and operational support.

Reporting to the Head of Cloud Engineering, you will work closely with Cloud Engineers, software engineers, SREs, and operations teams to help maintain and improve cloud environments. You will assist with infrastructure as code, support CI/CD pipelines, monitor cloud services, and contribute to ensuring environments follow best practices for security, resilience, and performance. This role offers strong opportunities for learning, mentorship, and professional growth in modern cloud technologies.

VARIED DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting with the design, build, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure supporting business-critical services
  • Supporting the implementation and maintenance of infrastructure as code for repeatable and auditable deployments
  • Helping to support and improve CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application delivery
  • Assisting in maintaining secure, resilient, and well-managed cloud environments aligned with best practices
  • Working with development teams to support deployment and operation of workloads in the cloud
  • Supporting the management and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters and cloud-native services under guidance from senior team members
  • Assisting with monitoring, logging, and alerting in collaboration with Cloud Engineering and SRE teams
  • Helping with routine operational tasks, environment maintenance, and cloud platform support
  • Assisting with troubleshooting cloud infrastructure issues and escalating where appropriate
  • Producing and maintaining clear documentation for cloud environments, processes, and standards
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of cloud platforms, tooling, and engineering practices
  • Taking part in learning, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing opportunities to build cloud engineering capability

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN A CANDIDATE?

  • Some hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, through a junior role, internship, placement, or personal/project work
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms, particularly Azure
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) concepts and tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible
  • Basic understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VNETs, routing, firewalls, and load balancing
  • Exposure to container platforms such as Kubernetes and container registries
  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts and interest in supporting deployment pipelines
  • Awareness of cloud security principles, identity and access management, and good operational practices
  • Willingness to learn backup, recovery, and disaster recovery approaches in cloud environments
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with a strong standard of English
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills in cloud engineering

ADVANTAGES

  • Exposure to Azure-native services such as AKS, App Services, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, or Azure Monitor

  • Basic scripting skills using Bash, PowerShell, or Python
