Role: Children\’s Residential Support Worker – LD
Location: Havant
Salary: £27,500 per annum
Full-time: 39 hours per week, 2 on 4 off
About The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Children\’s Residential Support Worker to join a Residential Children\’s Home in Havant, providing care and support to children with learning disabilities. In this role, you will help young people develop independence and lead fulfilling lives by assisting with daily activities, personal care, and emotional development.
You\’ll be a key member of a close-knit team, providing high-quality care that promotes the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the children.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support for children with learning disabilities, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being.
- Assist with personal care tasks, including hygiene, dressing, and feeding.
- Support children in educational, recreational, and social activities both within the home and the community.
- Foster positive, trusting relationships with the children to encourage emotional development and self-confidence.
- Implement individual care plans tailored to each child\’s needs, promoting growth, learning, and independence.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic care.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing environment within the home.
- Monitor, document, and report on the children\’s progress, behaviours, and changes in care needs.
- Assist with managing challenging behaviours using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
- Participate in team meetings, ongoing training, and professional development to ensure quality care.
- Safeguard the children, following company policies and procedures at all times.
What We\’re Looking For
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with learning disabilities or additional needs (desirable).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively within a team.
- A caring, patient, and empathetic attitude, with a commitment to promoting children\’s rights and well-being.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours calmly and professionally.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties.
- A full UK driving licence (business insurance required).
