Leader Education are recruiting a 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to work at a SEND school based near Wallsend. The successful 1:1 SEND Support Assistant will have transferable skills and experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), as well as a desire to support children within education on a 1:1 basis. Qualifications are desirable but not essential. The school caters for children aged 2 to 19 years old. The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday starting at 8:30am until 4:30pm and is a long-term position.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one
  • Experience working with people on a 1:1 basis
  • Transferable skills and relevant experience from roles in education, care, or support
  • An ability to support SEND children efficiently
  • The willingness to provide personal care if needed
  • A desire to help children who need extra support within the classroom
  • The ability to be proactive and enthusiastic to successfully support the children
  • A good understanding of Safeguarding in education and the policies and procedures involved
