The Role
The Law Society is the independent professional body for solicitors in England and Wales. We are the voice of solicitors, driving excellence in the profession, safeguarding the rule of law and protecting access to justice.
As Membership Development Manager you will manage and coordinate the Society's membership engagement, growth, recruitment and onboarding strategy.
The role will encompass a range of activities and projects, including the development and continuous improvement of the membership communications and engagement strategy and the Society's volunteer strategy; leading on the development and implementation of cross-organisational strategic membership projects and the Society's member offer; development/implementation of new and enhanced membership packages; building relationships with other organisations, for example, specialist legal associations, universities, SQE providers, to establish communication mechanisms with potential new members and to engage existing members in more of the Society's offer.
What we're looking for
We're looking for a strategic thinker with a proactive and hands on operational approach and commercial mindset who is able to grasp quickly and prioritise key issues across membership / client segments turning them into actionable plans. The role holder will work collaboratively across different functions at the organisation to manage an audience-first approach resulting into a central plan for content planning and delivery, with a focus on the in-house counsel community.
We are looking for someone with a broad skillset across communications, content, marketing, operations, product development, campaigning, events planning and member / client engagement with a proven background in membership/customer recruitment and retention.
You'll have excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills developed within a client base of professionals or knowledge workers.
You'll enjoy developing and implementing strategic plans, experienced with managing membership journeys both online and offline.
