Executive Director, Policy and Public Affairs

Green Park is delighted to be partnering with the Law Society at an important time for the legal profession, as it champions solicitors, upholds the rule of law and strengthens access to justice in an evolving political and regulatory environment.

We are seeking an Executive Director, Policy and Public Affairs to provide corporate leadership across policy, influencing, public affairs and external communications, ensuring a coherent, strategically aligned portfolio that represents members effectively and strengthens the Society’s influence.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will shape the portfolio’s strategic direction, leading through the Director of Policy and the Director of Public Affairs. You will align priorities and resources, resolve competing demands and hold both Directors accountable for performance, budgets, risks and collaboration, while preserving their responsibility for departmental strategies, professional standards and operational delivery.

Working closely with the Chief Executive, Office Holders, Council, the Board and senior colleagues, you will provide advice on significant policy, political, regulatory and reputational issues, contribute to corporate strategy and governance, and ensure that member experience informs the Society’s policy and influencing priorities. You will also lead or sponsor corporate Missions and Permanent Commitments where appointed, helping to deliver the Society’s strategic objectives across organisational boundaries.

You will build influential relationships across government, Parliament, regulators, the judiciary, the media and other key stakeholders, ensuring the Society’s positions are authoritative, evidence-based, coherent and politically impartial.

We are looking for a collaborative, values-led executive with substantial experience in policy, public affairs, government relations, regulation, strategic communications or a related field. You will bring a strong track record of influencing public institutions, advising senior leaders on sensitive and complex issues, and leading across related disciplines. A sophisticated understanding of the political, policy and regulatory environment in England and Wales is essential, alongside a commitment to professional ethics, equality, diversity and inclusion.

If you are motivated by the opportunity to shape the future of the legal profession, strengthen the voice of solicitors and advance the rule of law and access to justice, we would love to hear from you.

Role closes at 11:59pm Sunday 22nd November 2026.
