KRW Law LLP are seeking a committed and motivated Criminal Defence Solicitor (NQ+) to join their busy and supportive Criminal Defence team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or early-career solicitor to establish and develop a strong foundation in criminal defence practice while working within a collaborative and experienced team.
You will handle a varied and engaging criminal caseload, gaining significant exposure to advocacy, case preparation, and client representation across Magistrates’, Crown Court, and related proceedings.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and progress a diverse criminal defence caseload, including police station attendances, Magistrates’ Court matters, Crown Court cases, and Youth Court proceedings.
- Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to clients at all stages.
- Prepare case files, statements, briefs, and legal documentation.
- Attend consultations, conferences with counsel, and engagements with experts.
- Liaise effectively with the PSNI, PPS, courts, barristers, experts, and other key stakeholders.
- Represent clients in court (commensurate with experience), with opportunities to develop advocacy skills.
- Work both independently and as part of a supportive, collaborative team.
- Qualified Solicitor in Northern Ireland, newly qualified or with early post-qualification experience.
- A genuine interest in and commitment to criminal defence work.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in sensitive and high-pressure situations.
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle a busy caseload with competing priorities.
- Motivated, professional, and able to work well both independently and within a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and sound legal judgement.
