Role Overview
The Business Operations Assistant plays a central operational role within the CSS Business Line, acting as the connection between client delivery roles, financial management and contract management. Directed by a team lead or manager with growing autonomy, you are expected to be enthusiastic, proactive and curious – maintaining accurate data within internal systems, supporting client delivery teams to keep engagements running smoothly, asking questions, flagging issues and demonstrating a genuine interest in the CSS business and the wider Law Debenture group.
Key Responsibilities
- Engagement and data management
- Manage client projects within PSA systems, ensuring accurate project setup, maintenance and lifecycle tracking
- Develop an understanding of client contracts and how contractual terms flow through to management information and reporting
- Maintain a consolidated operational tracker as the single source of truth for revenue forecasting, resource utilisation and live project data
- Begin to understand the pricing model, scope of services and billing process through the PSA system
- Billing and financial reporting
- Support month‑end billing processes including timesheet completion and revenue forecast reviews and data accuracy sign‑off
- Support Senior Business Operations Partner in reviewing and distributing regular MI and governance reports by consolidating data from internal systems and multiple sources, ensuring accurate formatting and timely delivery to stakeholders
- Systems and process improvement
- Contribute to PSA platform implementation and improvement projects by capturing operational requirements from an end‑user perspective
- Champion adoption of operational systems and tools, identify automation opportunities and flag inefficiencies to the team
- Support the Senior Operations Business Partner on projects to improve operational processes and business performance
- Team support and coordination
- Prepare team meeting slides using standard templates, collating updates and formatting content ahead of meetings
- Support the induction and onboarding of new CSS colleagues, including training on the PSA tool
- Arrange business line meetings and manage calendar invites as required
- Manage and respond to support requests within agreed SLAs, triaging tickets or resolving straightforward queries directly

- Strong attention to detail and pride in data accuracy
- Commercial Awareness: comfortable with billing processes, revenue forecasts and P&L basics
- Proactive and curious: you ask questions, build knowledge and spot inefficiencies
- Self‑starter: who owns their workload and escalates issues early
