Position: Meal Preparation Assistant
Location: Edinburgh (Visualise Scotland supported living home)
Hours: 14 hours per week, ideally across 4 days (three 4-hour sessions and one 2–3-hour session)
Salary: Depending on experience
Start date: As soon as possible

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly and reliable person to assist with preparing healthy, home-cooked meals for an adult with a disability living in a supported home managed by Visualise Scotland. You will work alongside the individual\’s carers and under light supervision to prepare nutritious meals based on simple, whole-food recipes provided for you.

This is a hands-on and rewarding role for someone who enjoys cooking, cares about healthy eating, and is comfortable working in a supportive home environment. There is no requirement for formal cooking qualifications β€” enthusiasm, care, and reliability are what matter most.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals following provided recipes and meal plans.
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the individual\’s care team and supervisor.
  • Ensure meals are labelled and stored safely.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity of the person supported.

Requirements

  • Genuine interest in healthy, whole-food cooking.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
  • Able to work efficiently and follow recipe instructions.
  • Friendly, positive, and respectful attitude.
  • Comfortable working in a household with vulnerable adults.
  • No formal qualifications required.
  • PVG membership (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) will be arranged and funded.
