Working Hours: 08.00 - 17.00 (40 hours) Lunch 1 hour

Positions reporting to job holders: Operatives

Overview and Main Responsibilities

  • Supervise works, Operatives and staff within Operations and working in conjunction with Support Teams; Finance, Business Development and Shared Services Teams.

General Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the Company's Code of Conduct, as revised from time to time.
  • Portray a positive attitude in line with our Company values.
  • Be proactive with ideas and suggestions.
  • Follow all procedures within the Company minimising any business risk.
  • Manage projects in a commercially sensible way.
  • Compile monthly reports to Project Manager as required.
  • Put forward suggestions for improvement of any processes.
  • Ownership and accountability for planning manpower efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure timesheets are completed by all Operatives in accordance with process.
  • Work in conjunction with HR escalating appropriate People matters.
  • Identify training needs for direct reports and arrange accordingly.
  • Ensure Company IT process is adhered to.
  • Lead by example conducting all business interactions in alignment with Company values.

Role Responsibilities

Operations

  • Complete estimating for projects as per agreed schedule of rates.
  • Ensure adequate transport and plant available for all necessary works.
  • Liaise with SHEQ Team.
  • Ensure site installations are carried out to standard expected by Client/relevant regulations.
  • Ensure all quality audits and corrective actions are closed out on time.
  • Liaise with Client personnel and local authorities; attend all relevant meetings.
  • Attend weekly programming meeting held by PM.
  • Liaise with other BUs to ensure resource.
  • Survey and programme jobs on a weekly basis and populate planner with addresses.
  • Complete BoQs process accurately and cascade to team.
  • Attend weekly/monthly progress meetings with Project Manager.
  • Assist Project Manager on achieving higher or lower KPIs.
  • Manage resources to ensure maximum productivity is achieved in line with forecast.
  • Manage sub-contractors on site.
  • Sign off completed projects for quality.

Financial

  • Assist in cost control initiatives within the department.
  • Highlight any variations required on projects to Project Manager.
  • Provide daily costs of labour, material, sub-contractors and hours expelled.
  • Assist PM and admin with PO & SO requests.

Procurement

  • Identify material requirements for projects and business activities.
  • Order materials in line with procedures and always have PO number prior to purchasing goods.
  • Responsibility for stock management process.
  • Assist in the selection of sub-contractors' quotations with Project Manager/Commercial.

Health and Safety

  • Create Method Statements and Generic Risk Assessments prior to all projects commencing.
  • Ensure all personnel are inducted prior to going on site.
  • Responsible for the completion of Operatives' Daily Risk Assessment.
  • Prior to any works commencing, conduct the appropriate asbestos surveying in line with current legislation.
  • Conduct regular H&S safety audits on Operatives as per agreed targets.
  • Follow SHEQ processes and procedures.
  • Follow Client SHEQ processes and procedures.
  • Ownership for H&S procedures for IQA employees, sub-contractors, members of the public and other third parties.
  • Highlight any issues which may affect compliance with Client/SHEQ requirements or legislation.
  • Reporting of accidents, hazards and near misses.
  • Work within authorisation level and never exceed them.
  • Ensure on-site safety is maintained.

Quality of Work

  • Complete Quality of Work audits (number to be agreed).
  • Pass completed Quality of Work audits to Support Assistant for updating.

People Matters

  • Regular one to one meetings; weekly and monthly with direct reports.
  • Set objectives for direct reports and agree frequency of meetings.
  • In accordance with Company policy ensure the appropriate support of HR representation is present and process followed for data capture.
  • Manage holidays within your department ensuring adequate cover is always available.
  • Return to work interviews to be carried out with staff in line with the Company procedure.

  • Knowledge of NERS accreditation.
  • Previous experience of Assessing Officer duties and NERS surveillance audits.
  • Be responsible for the assessment of competence of persons working under the NERS scheme.
  • Mentor staff working under the scope of the NERS scheme.
  • Be responsible for the management of the NERS passport scheme.
