Role Description We are looking for local freelance interpreters in a variety of languages. Our Freelance Interpreters provide both remote, and on-site interpreting services, for clients in the South Wales area. Responsibilities include accurately interpreting spoken communication between parties, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring clarity and cultural appropriateness of messages. The majority of our assignments are based in either the legal sector or community (social workers etc.). Flexibility, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• Strong interpreting skills, including consecutive and/or simultaneous interpreting, with excellent command of at least two languages relevant to client needs.
• Ability to adapt language use to different sectors such as medical, legal, commercial, and technical, with sound terminology knowledge in at least one speciality area.
• High level of cultural awareness, sensitivity, and professionalism when working with diverse communities and international clients.
• Excellent listening, note-taking, and communication skills, with the ability to convey meaning accurately and neutrally.
• Proven reliability, time management, and organizational skills to handle multiple assignments and varying schedules.
• Comfortable working either remotely, or on-site throughout South Wales, and the South-West of England, with the ability to travel locally to client locations as required.
• Prior experience as an interpreter is required.
• Familiarity with confidentiality requirements, ethical standards in interpreting, and basic knowledge of data protection principles.
