We are currently recruiting for an experienced Gas Authorised Person (AP) to join a specialist compliance team supporting a major MOD contract across RAF bases throughout the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced gas compliance professional to play a key role in maintaining gas safety and operational compliance across a secure and critical defence estate.

The Role

As the Gas Authorised Person (AP), you will be responsible for overseeing gas safety compliance, contractor competence, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and permit systems across multiple RAF locations. Working closely with operational teams, project managers, and stakeholders, you will ensure gas infrastructure and gas-utilising equipment remain compliant, safe, and fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Gas Authorised Person (AP) across designated RAF sites
  • Manage and maintain Gas Safety Management Plans
  • Assess, appoint and review Gas Skilled Persons
  • Monitor contractor and engineer competence
  • Ensure compliance with Gas Safe systems of work
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance reviews
  • Issue and control Gas Permits to Work
  • Investigate gas incidents and produce technical reports
  • Maintain compliance records and documentation
  • Review risk assessments and method statements
  • Prepare scopes of work and technical specifications
  • Provide technical support and guidance to operational teams
  • Ensure compliance with current legislation, standards and industry best practice

Requirements

  • Significant experience within the gas industry
  • Strong understanding of gas safety legislation and compliance
  • Experience managing gas safety procedures and safe systems of work
  • Excellent report writing and IT skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Willingness to travel across RAF sites throughout the UK
  • Ability to obtain and maintain MOD Security Clearance

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience operating as a Gas Authorised Person (AP)
  • Non-Domestic Gas qualifications
  • LPG qualifications
  • EUSR accreditation
  • Knowledge of JSP 375
  • Experience within MOD, Defence, Utilities, Facilities Management, Critical Infrastructure or Public Sector environments
