The Role of Head Gardener
Building on an enviable track record, our business is continuing to grow, and we are now seeking a dedicated Head Gardener to join our team and play a key role in our company\'s journey.
This position is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for plants, someone who takes pride in horticulture, understands plant health and seasonal needs, and can identify and care for a wide range of species by name.
You will lead by example, inspiring and guiding your team to deliver high-quality garden and grounds maintenance, along with soft landscaping works, across a range of premium residential and commercial gardens. The role involves maintaining the highest standards of presentation, plant care, and attention to detail that our clients expect.
The Candidate
We are looking for an exceptional individual — knowledgeable, hands-on, and passionate about gardens.
You should have:
- Strong horticultural knowledge and plant identification skills.
- A real enthusiasm for maintaining and developing beautiful gardens.
- The ability to lead, motivate, and support a small team.
- A proactive, caring, and professional approach to your work.

Essential Attributes
- UK Full driving Licence - this is non negotiable, do not apply if you do not hold one.
- 5 years proven employment in the garden and grounds maintenance sector.
- Horticultural knowledge, qualifications and exceptional plant ID are essential
- Supervisiory skills
- Experience with all machinery such as ride on mowers, mowers, strimmers etc.
- Health / Safety and COSHH management.
- Hard working and self-motivated
- Physically fit
- Reliable and friendly
- Positive attitude, with a strong customer focused approach.
- IT literate (use of smart phone).
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written (English)
- Be able to follow a schedule and work to deadlines
- Good timekeeping and personal presentation skills
- Ability to implement Health and Safety requirements to
- Ensure safe working practices
