SENIOR TEACHING ASSISTANT required from 1 September 2026 until 31 August 2027 (1 year initially due to external funding provided by Westmorland & Furness Council).

Full time: 35 hours per week Mon – Fri Term Time Only (38 weeks plus 1 week INSET).

The Lakes School is seeking to employ a Senior Teaching Assistant (STA) to join our dedicated Student Development Team from September. This role requires a flexible, patient and empathetic professional who can work collaboratively to make a meaningful difference to a young person’s educational journey.

The successful candidate would work as part of the wider inclusion team to promote a positive, inclusive school ethos. The ability to build resilience, confidence and emotional intelligence in young people is essential, as is a sound understanding of the specific needs and barriers for SEND children.

The successful candidate will be required to work 1 to 1 and with small groups and to deliver a variety of programmes across four key areas including English and Maths, specific targeted interventions, developing social & emotional aspects and building resilience & confidence.

We are a supportive team of staff who work hard to care for each other and our students. We are a high achieving, fully comprehensive school; a dynamic and innovative centre at the heart of the Lake District where all pupils are encouraged to be inspired, feel challenged, become empowered.

The Lakes School was graded good in all areas by OFSTED in January 2025. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS and health check along with two satisfactory references and a six month probation period.
