Job summary

The Lakes Medical Centre is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic & motivated GP to join our friendly and successful practice team for a fixed-term post for 1 year.

We practise from purpose-built premises based in Swinton with easy access to Manchester city centre and the North West motorway network.

We are looking for a salaried GP to cover Mondays and Wednesdays.

We are a forward-thinking training practice, supportive of continued education, personal development and focused on providing high quality patient care to 10,800+ patients.

We are a happy and friendly team that work together provide exceptional person-centred healthcare.

You will be fully supported by an extended multidisciplinary team including 4 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA, 2 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, 1 Trainee ACP, Clinical Pharmacists and Musculoskeletal Practitioner.

We are paper light and totally committed to patient care.

We are an established training practice training GP trainees and Foundation year doctors.

We are part of a progressive and well established PCN.

CQC inspection in February 2024 rated as 'Good'.

Main duties of the job

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards, collecting data for audit purposes.
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care including admin duties and home visits.

  • Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP.

There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
  • c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • d. Effective management of long-term conditions
  • e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  • g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • h. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • j. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • k. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • l. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training.
  • m. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
  • n. Prepare and complete the revalidation process
  • o. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
  • p. Support the training of GPSTs and FY2 doctors.
  • q. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times
  • r. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Full GMC Registration
  • National Performers List registration
  • Competent in the use of Office and Outlook

Desirable

  • Experience of QOF and clinical audit
  • Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
  • Experience of medicines management
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check
