We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our busy GP practice team. You will play a vital role in supporting the safe and effective delivery of medicines management, patient care, and clinical services within the practice.

Salary: Band 4/5 depending on experience

Main duties of the job:

  • Medication Reconciliation using clinical letters and post Hospital Discharge Summaries
  • Medicine Management including prescription screening and processing
  • Respond and communicate to patient related medication queries
  • Communicate with local pharmacies regarding stock supplies issues and shortages
  • Medication synchronisation in line with regular repeat prescription
  • Medication monitoring recalls (e.g BP, blood tests, annual reviews)
  • Prescribing audits in line with CQC/QOF targets as set by the Prescribing Team (training can be provided)
  • Standard/Annual medication monitoring
  • Shared Care Protocols
  • Action medicines safety alerts from CAS/MHRA/ICB
  • Level 1 and 2 Medication reviews (training can be given)
  • Assist with Pre-SMR (Structure Medication Review) Screening (training can be given)

Person Specification:

  • Understanding of general practice and related computer systems
  • Evidence of patient centred approach to care
  • Significant post qualifying experience, working as a registered pharmacy technician in general practice, community or hospital pharmacy
  • An appreciation of the nature of primary/secondary care prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for the improvement of prescribing.
  • Evidence of commitment to lifelong learning - CPD

Qualifications:

  • BTEC diploma level 3 in pharmaceutical science or NVQ level 3 Diploma in pharmacy service skills (or equivalent as recognised by GPHC)
  • CPPE Primary care pharmacy education pathway in progress or completed
