The Lake District Calvert Trust is a leading outdoor activity centre providing accessible adventure experiences for people with disabilities. Based in the heart of the stunning Lake District, we help individuals build confidence, achieve personal goals, and experience the thrill of the outdoors in a truly inclusive environment.

We are currently recruiting an enthusiastic Activities Instructor to join our team and deliver exciting and accessible outdoor activities that challenge, inspire, and transform lives.

What You’ll Do

As an Activities Instructor, you’ll:

  • Lead a variety of outdoor activities such as sailing, canoeing, rock climbing, and high ropes.
  • Facilitate additional sessions like archery, orienteering, and walks.
  • Adapt sessions to meet the goals of each group and individual participant.
  • Support overnight duties and contribute to the overall residential experience.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, activity development, and volunteer supervision.
  • Help ensure a safe, fun, and empowering experience for all guests.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Age 21 or older.
  • Full driving licence (WithD1 entitlement or willingness to obtain it).
  • Practical experience in a range of outdoor activities.
  • Passion for inclusive adventure and working with people with disabilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

  • National Governing Body qualifications (e.g., RYA Dinghy Instructor, BC Coaching Awards, Rock Climbing Instructor, RYA Safety Boat).
  • Experience in residential outdoor centres.
  • Experience using outdoor activities for personal development.
