HOUSE & GROUNDS MANAGERS (LIVE IN COUPLE) - SCOTLAND

BOX: 1314316. The Principals are seeking a House & Grounds Management couple who would be responsible for the smooth running of a large house and its grounds on a private Estate. The property is the main residence of the family who have older children and other guests who may visit during the year.

The Principals are seeking a House & Grounds Management couple who would be responsible for the smooth running of a large house and its grounds on a private Estate. The property is the main residence of the family who have older children and other guests who may visit during the year.

Responsibilities

  • General duties: Dog care duties; feeding, washing, walking, cleaning up. Ensure areas in and around the house are safe for the dogs. Tending to chickens including feeding, egg collection etc, alongside a daily helper who also focuses on this task during the week. Maintaining security of the property including the daily opening and closing of the property. Walkaround checking windows, doors, locks and dogs. Keeping an eye on security cameras through battery management and daily review of triggers. Preparing the property for Principals and guest arrival and departure. Driving for family, as and when required (e.g. from train station, airport). Maintenance of vehicles include washing, refuelling, MOTs etc.
  • Organise/supervise tradesmen/contractors and managing house heating and hot water system: weekly biomass pellet boiler checks, weekly running of all showers and toilets to ensure good flow to septic tank at all times, and weekly running of dishwashers and washing machines to ensure no staleness and free flow through to septic tank. Small jobs (both inside and outside) as skills and tools permit.
  • Household rubbish collection. Interior: Ensure the entire property is thoroughly cleaned, maintained and organised. Laundry and ironing of clothing and household linens. Wardrobe management, and assistance in packing/unpacking where required, ensuring any specialist items such as uniforms or evening wear are in good condition and ready to travel.
  • Caring for any household plants and flowers and keeping the household supplies fully stocked (cleaning products, tissues, wood, etc.).
  • Preparing meals on occasion (e.g. family arriving late or after long travel).
  • Exterior: All aspects of grass cutting and ground maintenance. Manage maintenance of hot tub, sauna, sitooterie and BBQ huts. Management of sprinkler system, auto timers, outdoor lighting and driveway gates, grooming of driveway gravel and driveway when required. Maintain fencing, outdoor lawn furniture, flowerpots, etc. Assist with labour intensive gardening on occasions where a specialist has been engaged.

Essential requirements

  • Full, clean UK driving license for both managers.
  • Prior experience in grounds and estate maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • The ability to have high levels of flexibility and strong communication skills.
  • Understanding the importance of discretion in the role. Trustworthy and the ability to work autonomously.

Accommodation

The Principals will provide accommodation as necessary in order to fulfil your contractual obligations. The property is a two-bedroom cottage situated on the grounds. Dependents, children and well-behaved pets may be considered. Accommodation will include heating, water, dirty water disposal and electricity. WiFi will also be provided. Community tax will not be included and must be separately arranged. A car suitable for dog and household management will be made available and family cars will be insured as appropriate.
