Salary: £46,346.42 (gross) per annum, with a fixed sum allowance of £2,764. There is the ability to progress to £50,913.46 over the next 2 years. This is a Regular Driver Role so also attracts a car allowance of £5000 (gross) per annum, subject to internal checks.
Location: Labour North – Newcastle upon Tyne
Duration: A fixed-term contract until 4th December 2026.
The Labour Party is looking to recruit a Regional Communications Officer. The post-holder will be responsible for developing and implementing a pro-active regional media strategy and taking responsibility for the day to day presentation of the Labour Government’s policies and activities in the regional media.
The successful candidate will have:
- A good knowledge of the regional media and issues affecting that region
- Knowledge of Labour Party policies and the Cabinet and other elected representatives
- Experience of developing and implementing a media strategy
- Ability to provide media training as necessary

The deadline for applications is 1st February 2026. Please note that this is a Regular Driver Role and there is a requirement to be able to drive and own a compliant car in this role. Any successful applicant will be required to drive and have a compliant car within 12 months of their start date. A driving licence is required for this role due to operational requirements including travel between multiple locations and transportation of campaign materials. Candidates who cannot drive due to disability are encouraged to apply as reasonable adjustments will be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010. You must have the Right to Work in the UK to apply for this role.
