A well‑established Mechanical Contractor with an annual turnover of approximately £60 million is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team. Operating across the Commercial Fit‑Out sector, the business delivers high‑profile Design & Build projects with values up to £10 million throughout London and the South East. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to strengthen their in‑house design capability.
The Role
Working closely with the pre‑construction, commercial, and project delivery teams, you will be responsible for the design and coordination of mechanical building services systems from concept through to project completion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing mechanical building services designs for commercial fit‑out projects.
- Developing HVAC, public health, and associated mechanical systems in line with client requirements.
- Preparing calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical submissions.
- Coordinating designs with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors.
- Supporting Design & Build project delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attending design meetings and providing technical support during construction phases.
- Ensuring designs comply with current regulations, standards, and project requirements.
Requirements
- Relevant Mechanical Engineering or Building Services qualification (HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent).
- Previous experience working for a Mechanical Contractor or M&E Contractor.
- Proven experience delivering Commercial Fit‑Out Design & Build projects is essential.
- Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services design.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative project team.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
