A well-established Mechanical Contractor with an annual turnover of approximately £60 million is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team. Operating across the Commercial Fit-Out sector, the business delivers high-profile Design & Build projects with values up to £10 million throughout London and the South East. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to strengthen their in-house design capability.

The Role

Working closely with the pre-construction, commercial, and project delivery teams, you will be responsible for the design and coordination of mechanical building services systems from concept through to project completion.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing mechanical building services designs for commercial fit-out projects.
  • Developing HVAC, public health, and associated mechanical systems in line with client requirements.
  • Preparing calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical submissions.
  • Coordinating designs with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Supporting Design & Build project delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attending design meetings and providing technical support during construction phases.
  • Ensuring designs comply with current regulations, standards, and project requirements.

Requirements

  • Relevant Mechanical Engineering or Building Services qualification (HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working for a Mechanical Contractor or M&E Contractor.
  • Proven experience delivering Commercial Fit-Out Design & Build projects is essential.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services design.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative project team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
