Job Overview

£35,798 to £36,563 depending on Level 3/4 in Children’s Residential/Workforce. This includes payments for an average of just 8 sleep‑ins per month, with extraordinary days every day at ROC Northwest.

As a Children’s Residential Support Worker you will support young people with their daily routines – getting them ready for school, preparing for meal times and planning activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure children receive the highest level of support.
  • Support senior staff with timely updates.
  • Promote individuality rather than a "one size fits all" approach.
  • Maintain an average of 8 sleep‑ins per month.
  • Complete and update care plans regularly, documenting any additional requirements.
  • Help create a warm, homely environment, including light housekeeping duties.
  • Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support.
  • Plan and participate in enjoyable activities such as park trips, popcorn & movie nights, or creative projects.
  • Use an electronic care recording system daily to document, monitor, and update children’s and young people’s records accurately.
  • Collaborate with the team to cover day shifts and overnight sleep‑ins at the service.

Working Environment

Kirkwood is a two‑bedroom dormer bungalow that provides a family‑home environment where young people feel safe, relaxed and well‑cared for in a non‑institutionalised setting.

The home is spacious with good resources, and the garden area is equipped with games and a trampoline for fun in the sun or rain.

Kirkwood can care for 2 young people aged 8 to 18 of either gender, requiring short‑, medium‑ or long‑term care. The registered manager and the staff team have exceptional skills and abilities to support each young person’s individual needs.

CareTech is committed to safeguarding and the welfare of children. All applicants must pass an enhanced DBS/PVG check and provide references covering the past two years plus all roles involving vulnerable groups.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in residential care preferred, or experience caring for a friend or family member.
  • Ability to work towards a Level 3 qualification in Children’s Residential care.
  • Manual UK driving licence essential.
  • Open to ongoing development and learning with support from the team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
