About the role
Oliver’s Bakery is looking for a reliable, friendly and flexible person to join our team in a dual-purpose role as a Shop Assistant / Relief Jiffy Van Driver. The main part of this role is working in the bakery shop, serving customers, preparing and displaying products, handling payments, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the shop. In addition to shop duties, the successful candidate will also provide relief cover for our Jiffy vans when required. This will include covering sickness, holidays and other staff absences. Because driving forms part of the role, a full UK driving licence is essential. Appointment will also be subject to the successful applicant meeting the requirements of our vehicle insurance. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be provided.
Main duties
- Serving customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Preparing, stocking and displaying bakery products
- Handling cash and card payments
- Keeping the shop clean, tidy and well presented
- Supporting colleagues with general day-to-day shop duties
- Driving a Jiffy van when cover is required
- Providing cover for sickness, holidays and other absences
Essential requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to meet the requirements of the company’s vehicle insurance for driving duties

Training
Full training will be provided.
Working pattern
