The Learning Resources Assistant will manage the day-to-day operation and supervision of the LRC. You won't just be issuing books; you will be actively supporting student learning, maintaining essential resources, and shaping the school's visual environment. This role blends administrative efficiency and creative design. About the role

  • Daily Supervision: Run the day-to-day operations of the LRC, ensuring a safe, positive, and productive environment for independent study and lunchtime duties.
  • Literacy Champion: Guide and advise students of all abilities - including reluctant readers - to select appropriate books, promoting a diverse and equitable collection that reflects all students.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the accurate issue and return of physical and digital stock using our IT inventory and manual stock control systems.
  • IT Support: Monitor the use of LRC IT equipment, maintain logs, and organise minor repairs or maintenance work to ensure systems run smoothly.
  • Creative & School-Wide Support: Source materials to design, build, and maintain high-quality, engaging displays across the school to celebrate the wider curriculum and promote library initiatives. Assist in collecting and distributing publications and resources needed for school-wide projects and individual class initiatives. Act as an integral part of the wider school team, including learning to deputise for the Reprographics department when needed.

About you

  • Possesses a natural ability to build effective, respectful relationships with young people, understanding and supporting their unique learning styles.
  • Possess a good knowledge of children's and young adults literature and experience of working in a school setting.
  • Demonstrates strong conflict-resolution skills when handling challenging or emotive situations, while maintaining absolute confidentiality.
