Kincarrathie House is a residential Care Home for the elderly which is located on the outskirts of Perth, set within its own extensive grounds it is registered to accommodate 44 residents. The Kincarrathie Trust is a non-profit making charitable trust which means that all income generated is invested back into Kincarrathie House Care Home and our Staff.

You will be part of a team that provides person-centred high standard of care to help residents retain personal dignity and individuality. You will be passionate about enhancing the lives of residents, with a kind and supporting nature to encourage our residents to engage in choices of menu options. Your culinary expertise will play a vital role in enhancing the dining experience of our residents.

We are currently looking for Bank Staff to replace long serving colleagues that have moved on. Expected availability would be during holidays Easter, Summer and Christmas – occasional shifts during term time may also be available.

Job Purpose:

  • To prepare and serve nutritionally balanced and attractively presented meals.
  • To work in a way that ensures efficiency, hygiene and safety is maintained in all food preparation and serving areas.
  • Prepare, cook and serve meals and thereafter clear and wash up.
  • Assist in the planning of menus to provide varied, balanced and interesting meals for residents and staff.
  • Provide, where required, meals that meet the needs of any residents or members of staff, with particular dietary requirements.
  • Take into account in the preparation of meals residents’ preferences.
  • Speak to residents on a daily basis to advise them of menu choices.
  • Assist in the provision of quality and appealing home baking.
  • Maintain a careful check on food stocks and participate in the maintenance of the food ordering system.
  • Ensure that food is used in date order and that all food is stored correctly according to manufacturers’ instructions.
  • Fully comply with relevant Health & Safety requirements and all other current food laws and regulations.
  • Work to the highest standards of cleanliness, including food storage, preparation and serving areas, and all equipment, cutlery and crockery.
  • Ensure the prompt disposal of food waste.
  • Maintain the system in place of recording of food, food temperatures, fridges etc.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications that demonstrate the ability to fulfil the role.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as Cook or Chef in a catering environment.
  • A clear security check from PVG Scotland and two satisfactory references are essential.

Skills:

  • Genuine interest in working in a care environment.
  • Good team player.

Hourly rate: £14.35 per hour dependent on qualifications and experience.

Hours/Shift Pattern:

  • Working weeks are 35 hours, 5 days out of 7 on a shift rota basis. Daily working hours are a mixture of early and late shifts. Early shifts are 7.30am to 3pm. Late shifts are 10.00am to 5.30pm.
  • Hourly rate £14.35, with rolled up holiday pay addition at 12.07%.
  • We provide free meals to staff while on duty.
  • There is a bus stop at our front entrance and free on-site parking.
