The Ben Hollioake Learning Centre (BHLC) Coach will be responsible for delivering high-quality cricket coaching to primary schools within the Kennington, Oval, and Vauxhall communities. Working on-site at The Oval, the role oversees ten weekly sessions during term time, providing Key Stage 2 pupils with an engaging, safe and inspiring first experience of cricket. In addition to curriculum-based coaching, the BHLC Coach will contribute to the design and delivery of after-school programmes, collaborate closely with the Centre Manager, and act as a visible and trusted representative of Surrey County Cricket Club within the local community.
What You’ll Do
- Design and deliver sessions to give KS2 young people in the community of Kennington, Oval and Vauxhall their first experience of cricket.
- Work with schools to help fulfil their National Curriculum PE requirements.
- Ensure the safety and security of all young people whilst in sessions.
- Design and deliver after school programmes as and when required.
- Be Head Coach of the BHLC XI and any other teams representing the centre.
- Be a key face of Surrey CCC in the local community, walking young people to and from school to The Oval every day.
- Support the Centre Manager on improving the day to day administration of the centre, managing relationships with key stakeholders, fundraising applications and other tasks when required.

Requirements
Essential
- Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check with Childs Barred List.
- Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Experience working with primary-aged children in a coaching, teaching or youth engagement setting.
- Ability to design and deliver engaging, inclusive and age‑appropriate sports sessions.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with young people, school staff, parents and community partners.
- High level of professionalism and reliability, including the ability to act as a visible ambassador for Surrey CCC.
- Acceptance that annual leave cannot be taken during term time except in exceptional circumstances.
- Ability to manage groups safely and confidently in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Desirable
- ECB Level 2 Coaching Qualification (or working towards).
- Experience coaching cricket specifically within a school or community setting.
- First Aid qualification.
