Are you looking for a senior marketing role within a fast-growing business where people are at the heart of everything we do? Would you like to work within a socially conscious organisation that is making a real impact in the education sector?
The Key Group serves school leaders and trusts across the UK providing authoritative guidance and intuitive tools that support school leadership. We work across the full diversity of schools and locations, from small rural and coastal primaries to the largest trusts and local authorities in the country. We recognise that each school and trust is on a journey and school leaders need to identify their specific context, their own path and the next step in that journey. This process requires more than just shared values in a school, it requires the knowledge, data, context and confidence to bring others with you in effecting change.
The Senior Marketing Manager (group marketing) owns the group marketing strategy across multi-academy trusts and resellers. This role is responsible for defining how marketing supports the trust commercial and customer strategy — shaping the market, building momentum and enabling sales and success teams to win, expand and retain trust relationships. This is a senior role that combines strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery. With no established blueprint for trust marketing, you’ll be responsible for designing, testing and evolving our approach, working closely with sales and success teams to ensure activity is well aligned, effective and commercially meaningful. This role requires strong judgement, commercial curiosity and the ability to spot opportunities through close collaboration with customer teams.
Key responsibilities
- Strategy & planning
- Collaborate with the customer team to create the trust and reseller commercial strategy, aligned to wider commercial priorities.
- Deliver on the marketing strand of this shared strategy.
- Develop a clear trust marketing approach that supports lead generation, engagement and long‑term retention.
- Identify priority trust segments, opportunities and risks, adapting focus as the market evolves.
- Set success measures for trust marketing activity, balancing clear direction with room for experimentation and learning.
- Delivery & execution
- Lead the design and delivery of trust marketing activity, including campaigns, collateral and communications.
- Own the trust engagement strategy, ensuring activity supports onboarding, adoption and ongoing value for both trust central teams and schools (in‑collaboration with schools marketing).
- Work closely with the marketing executive (events & social) to shape trust events and webinars, owning strategy and outcomes while supporting effective delivery.
- Commercial collaboration
- Partner closely with the sales and success teams to ensure marketing activity creates the right conditions for winning, expanding and retaining trust deals.
- Support commercial conversations with relevant assets, insights and campaigns where appropriate.
- Collaborate with Brand & Partnerships to align trust marketing needs with broader brand activity, without duplicating ownership.
- Performance & optimisation
- Monitor performance of trust marketing activity, using insight to refine approach and prioritise.
- Share learnings and recommendations with sales, success and marketing colleagues to improve effectiveness over time.
- Adapt plans quickly in response to feedback, performance data and changes in the trust landscape.
- Team leadership & ways of working
- Manage, mentor and empower the Senior Marketing Executive (GovernorHub), providing direction, coaching and clarity while enabling autonomy and ownership of GovernorHub marketing activity.
- Provide strategic direction and editorial judgement on messaging, prioritisation and opportunity focus, ensuring GovernorHub marketing activity is commercially meaningful and well‑positioned.
- Establish effective ways of working across marketing, sales and success teams to support strong collaboration and delivery.
- Act as a senior voice within the marketing team, contributing to shared learning and continuous improvement.
We’re looking for a practical and experienced Senior Marketing Manager who has the following experience:
Essential
- Experience working with multi‑academy trusts, governance audiences or multi‑stakeholder decision‑making groups.
- Significant experience in a senior marketing role within B2B, SaaS or complex stakeholder environments.
- Proven ability to define and deliver new marketing strategies where no clear blueprint exists.
- Strong understanding of how marketing enables commercial success.
- Experience working closely with sales and/or customer success teams with proven success.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with delivery and experimentation.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Confidence using insights and feedback to adapt and evolve approach.
Nice to have
- Experience marketing platform‑based or subscription services.
- Familiarity with engagement, adoption or lifecycle marketing approaches.
- Experience line managing or mentoring senior individual contributors.
