Lock Street is a friendly, open-plan day service supporting 13 individuals, ideally located close to Gillingham High Street. The service offers a vibrant and inclusive environment where people are encouraged to live active, fulfilling lives within their community. The people we support there take part in a wide range of activities, including community events, volunteering at an animal sanctuary, going to the gym, and regular trips to the coast for picnics and meals out.
About the Role
Our experienced and passionate staff team is excited to welcome a Part-Time Specialist Support Worker to join them. The team is known for their creativity, energy, and love of celebrating whether that’s summer BBQs, social meals, or planning fun events throughout the year. About You
If you are a positive, forward-thinking, and compassionate Specialist Support Worker who enjoys being active, socialising, and making a genuine difference in people's lives, we would love to hear from you.
Tasks / Responsibilities of a Part time Support Worker (may include but not limited to):
- Drive a mobility car or service vehicle. UK manual licence required (preferred).
- Work with individuals who can display behaviours of concern when they are stressed which may include hurting self or others, running away, throwing things, swearing, shouting and damaging property.
- Support individuals within the community in activities such as bike rides, long walks & shopping.
- Administer medication.
- Assist individuals with personal care and hygiene.
- Be confident & experienced in lone working.
- Uphold their privacy, confidentiality and dignity.
- Handle money to shop, going to the bank etc.
- Work with and support individuals with additional needs, such as epilepsy, pica, learning disabilities.
- Form good working relationships with other members of staff across different services.
- Ensure written records are correctly maintained.

Key Requirements:
- Manual UK driving licence essential, confident driving mobility vehicles/people carriers.

- Clear, calm, and adaptable communication style to meet the needs of individuals with complex communication profiles.

Supporting over 80 people in Medway and across Kent, The Kent Autistic Trust provides a wide range of services designed to meet diverse needs of autistic people and people with associated neurodevelopmental conditions. We provide residential homes, supported living accommodation, day resource services, respite, and outreach services.
