About Kensa

The UK’s heating system is outdated, costing both people and the planet too much. At Kensa, we’ve been leading the charge since 1999, manufacturing and installing affordable, green heating solutions with minimal impact on the electricity grid. We’re responsible for over half the ground source heat pumps installed in the UK. Our networked heat pumps are the cheapest, cleanest way to heat and cool millions of homes and businesses, and even entire towns. By 2040, up to 8,000 homes a week could be connecting to these heat networks, eliminating 17Mt of CO2 a year, equivalent to that of over half of all UK flights. In leading the networked heat pump sector, Kensa will expand to install 50,000 heat pumps a year and employ 1,500. It’s time to leave high bills and emissions behind. We’re making heating better—for people, for the planet, and for the future.

About The Role

We are searching for a Technical Sales Manager to drive the growth of our non-domestic heat pump projects, with an initial focus on schools and other public-sector buildings. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise with commercial acumen, ensuring that our projects are technically viable, financially competitive, and operationally deliverable. You will play a key role in guiding projects from feasibility through to contract, working closely with clients, internal teams, and supply chain partners to develop tailored heat pump solutions that support the UK’s net-zero goals.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Client Engagement & Technical Expertise: Supporting Business Development Managers by attending sales meetings, engaging with clients, and ensuring solutions are technically and commercially viable.
  • Pre-Contract Process Ownership: Assessing feasibility, ensuring designs are deliverable, and translating client needs into tailored heat pump solutions.
  • Tender Leadership: Leading tender processes for non-domestic projects, developing bid responses, and balancing cost, risk, and project deliverability.
  • Technical & Commercial Due Diligence: Validating designs, working with internal teams to ensure costings reflect real-world conditions.
  • Supply Chain & Subcontractor Management: Selecting the right products and partners for each project, ensuring technical and commercial alignment.
  • Training & Market Insights: Supporting sales teams with technical knowledge and staying ahead of industry developments, funding schemes, and compliance requirements.

What You Will Bring

  • Technical expertise in heat pumps, HVAC, or low-carbon heating solutions, ideally with experience in non-domestic projects.
  • Tendering and bidding experience, including developing technical responses and cost estimates.
  • Knowledge of heat decarbonisation projects, public-sector procurement, and funding schemes such as PSDS.
  • Pre-sales technical support experience, with the ability to translate technical details into commercial opportunities.
  • Project coordination skills, ensuring smooth alignment across technical, sales, and operational teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management, engaging with clients, subcontractors, and supply chain partners to deliver the best solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.

What Success Looks Like

  • Growth in secured non-domestic heat pump projects, particularly within the schools sector.
  • Strong commercial margins with controlled risk and technically sound solutions.
  • Enhanced market reputation, positioning Kensa as a trusted partner for public-sector heat decarbonisation projects.

How will Kensa support you?

  • We encourage and support development, including internal and external courses, learning, study, and software, all bespoke to you.
  • Wellbeing: free 24/7 access to an independent and confidential Employee Assistance Programme for you and your immediate family.
  • Flexible Working Arrangements: Support for a balanced work-life approach, enabling remote or hybrid work settings.
  • 25 days holiday increasing to 30 days (plus bank holidays) for 5+ years’ service.
  • Private Health Insurance is available after one year of service.
  • Automatic enrolment in our company pension scheme.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme to help lower your carbon footprint whilst boosting endorphins and your health.
  • Team Culture: Regular Kensa events and activities for staff and families, encouraging us to celebrate, connect, and enjoy work together.
