What We're Looking For

  • Committed people ready to learn and help shape the strategic direction of our schools. Previous experience as a school governor is not a prerequisite.
  • A genuine interest in improving education outcomes.
  • A willingness to dedicate time and energy (approximately 6-9 meetings/events per year).
  • The ability to work as part of a team and ask challenging questions.
  • A desire to learn and engage with comprehensive training.

What the Role Involves (Strategic Leadership)

School governors play a vital strategic role, acting as a critical friend to the headteacher and the school leadership team. As a member of a Local Governing Body (LGB) within TKAT, you will:

  • Set the school’s vision and strategic direction.
  • Hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
  • Oversee the financial performance of the school and ensure its money is well spent.
  • Represent the Academy’s local community and ensure the school's vision is relevant to their needs.
